The 5 Steps to start a blog

3: Decide the domain name & get hosting
4: Get Started with WordPress
5: Customize & design your website(install theme)
1Choose the niche for your blog
Having a Profitable niche for your blog is something very important. it helps you in getting Well-defined Target Audience in your website.
Without thinking about anything else, start your niche decision process by writing down all the things that interest you.
These can be personal interests or professional interests.
Here on my site JustEarned.com my niche is digital marketing & online earning so I publish an article which is either related to marketing or online money making.
You can choose your niches in which you are interested to start a blog.
Some of the most popular niches for blogging are:
- Make Money Online
- Health and Fitness
- Beauty and Fashion
- Personal Development
2Choose the blogging platform
Once you decided the niche for your blog – now its a time to choose the blogging platform — there are several platforms to choose from(WordPress, Wix, Tumblr, blogger etc.), But I’ll suggest you choose WordPress as your blogging platform as It’s FREE, very user friendly, and perfect for people who’ve never built a blog before.
Before choosing WordPress as your blogging platform you need to understand the difference between wordpress.com & wordpress.org
Reasons why most people use & suggest WordPress?
- WordPress is easy to setup, manage, and update.
- There are Thousands of free & paid themes available to make your design look top-quality.
- WordPress plugins add complex business features to your website without having to hire a coder.
- WordPress is search engine friendly.
- It’s FREE (you only need a web host & domain name)
3Decide the domain name & get hosting(Bluehost)
Before I tell you how to choose your domain name – First, let’s talk about what is a Domain name.
Domain names are used in URLs to identify particular Web pages. For example, in the URL https://justearned.com/beginners-guide-domain-hosting-need/, the domain name is justearned.com
Every domain name has a suffix that indicates which top level domain (TLD) it belongs to. There are only a limited number of such domains. For example:
- gov – Government agencies
- edu – Educational institutions
- org – Organizations (nonprofit)
- mil – Military
- com – commercial business
- net – Network organizations
Your domain name is your identity on the web, so choose your domain name wisely – that not only fits your business but is also easy to find and promote.
These are some of the Tips that could help you in deciding your domain name.
a: Keep it short: If you choose a long & complex domain name, you risk customers mistyping or misspelling it.
b: Avoid numbers and hyphens: people who hear your website address will get confused as if you’re using a numeral (3) or it’s spelled out (three) or they misplace or forget the dash. So I’ll suggest you do not use number & hyphens in your domain name.
c: Do Research: Make sure the name you’ve selected isn’t trademarked, or not being used by any other company.
You can also determine the value of the domain name using GoDaddy Domain Appraisals so that you can choose the domain name which is perfect for you.
Still having trouble in deciding domain name? Don’t worry.
d: Use a Domain Name Generator to Gather Ideas
It’s obvious that a lot of ideas comes into our mind but when we decide to buy that domain a message comes into the screen that this domain is already taken. Right?
That’s where domain name generators come into play. These generators can turn your ideas into fresh, available domains.
Some Domain name generators are:
- DomainHole: DomainHole help you find unique, brandable, & Keyword specific domain names.
- Wordoid: It is a cozy place to pick a short and catchy name for your product, company or domain. Great source of quirky ideas of available domain names.

Once you decided the domain name now its time to setup hosting for your blog. But before that lets see-what is Hosting – if you already know about hosting then skip this part.
The web-hosting or server is much like the space that you rent out to have your business in. It’s merely space itself. Without the hosting services, you won’t have a place for your files to reside, so your domain would then become like a disconnected phone number in the phone directory, and your site files would have nowhere to stay.
Perhaps the simplest way to get your domain is to do so with the same place that you get your blog hosted. My recommendation for a good place to start is BlueHost.
WordPress has been recommending Bluehost for blog hosting since 2005. With 1-click WordPress installation, 24/7 support, and a super affordable rate, Bluehost is a great option for building your first website or blog.
Special Offer for JustEarned Readers: BlueHost has an offer exclusive to JustEarned readers to get set up for just $2.95 USD per month (including a domain name!).
This discount applies to all JustEarned.com visitors, so make sure you take advantage of it.
Now Click On “Get started now” button & Choose your Plan. There are 3 different Plans – Basic, Plus & Prime. I will recommend you to choose a basic plan- as it takes time to get a huge traffic in your site – & Basic plan is capable of handling this traffic & also Basic Plan is the cheapest option so you save some cash too. Fantastic Right?
Now enter the domain name which you have selected (they’ll give it to you for FREE)
If you already have a domain name then use the second form on the right (“I have a domain name”).
Complete your registration
There are three parts to this page. The first is account information.Just enter your contact information as you would normally.
First, you need to choose the account plan. Within the Basic option, you can choose to sign up for 12, 24, or 36 months.
Next, you’ll have some add-on options to choose from – Domain privacy is something you might want to consider:
- Domain privacy – When you register a domain name, all your information is added to a public database.
this option protects you from spammers. If you don’t mind your information being public, untick that option and you’ll save $0.99 per month.
The last part is just your billing info. If you want to pay with PayPal, click the “More payment options” link.
Once Your purchase is complete, it will ask you to choose a password – just click on Create your password button & choose a secure password.
